AGTF arrests two fugitives from Jaipur
Jaipur, April 27 -- The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Jaipur, on Sunday arrested two fugitives with alleged links to notorious gangsters Rohit Godara and Virendra Charan, officials said.
The two were nabbed from the Jhotwara area of Jaipur, with one being a prime accused wanted for the Sujangarh jeweller firing case in Churu district.
ADG Dinesh MN said, "The team apprehended two fugitives who had been hiding in the Jhotwara area - Krishna Singh, 31, a resident of Thathwata in Churu district, and Laxman Singh, 34, a resident of Nawa City, Kuchaman, Didwana district."
Acting on intelligence that Krishna Singh - a wanted accused in the Sujangarh firing case - was hiding somewhere in Jaipur, a special AGTF team was constituted, he said. Using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, the team laid a strategic ambush in the Jhotwara area and successfully detained Krishna Singh.
Laxman Singh, who was in his company at the time, was also taken into custody.
Police investigations revealed that Krishna Singh had been absconding for the past three years following his involvement in a firing incident at JDJ Jewellers showroom in the Sujangarh police station area of Churu district.
Dinesh MN said Krishna Singh was in direct contact with notorious gangsters Rohit Godara and Virendra Charan, and was allegedly used by them to intimidate businessmen. He had previously served a jail term in a murder case in Parbatsar. After his release, he was recruited into the extortion network of the Godara-Charan gang, and participated in the firing at JDJ Jewellers showroom in Sujangarh to terrorise the business owner into paying protection money. A case was formally registered against him in 2023 in this connection.
The second accused, Laxman Singh, has 27 cases against him, including charges of attempt to murder, chain snatching, and other serious offences.
He had been declared a court absconder.
The AGTF team is interrogating both to uncover the full extent of the gang's network....
