Bikaner, Feb. 14 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday held search operations at five locations in connection with a disproportionate assets case against a panchayat junior assistant, officials said. Director general of police (ACB) Govind Gupta said, "The accused, Shubhkaran Parihar, is currently serving as a junior assistant at Gram Panchayat Udat under Panchayat Samiti Bap in Phalodi district. He was earlier posted at Gram Panchayat Kanasar in Phalodi district. A confidential complaint alleged that Parihar amassed wealth far beyond his known sources of income through corrupt means, with the total value estimated in crores of rupees." The ACB's Special Unit in Bikaner was assigned to verify the complaint and collect evidence that the accused had acquired assets more than his legitimate earnings. Following verification, it was found that the accused had allegedly acquired assets about 938% higher than his lawful income. Based on these findings, a disproportionate assets case was registered, and search warrants were obtained from the appropriate court. Early morning raids were conducted at three sites in Bikaner city, the accused's Poonrasar village, and his earlier workplace area in Kanasar During the searches, officials confirmed the recovery of approximately Rs.75 lakh in cash from the accused's residence in Mateshwari Enclave, opposite Vaishno Dham on Jaipur Road in Bikaner. In addition, over 1 kilogram of gold and around 2 kilograms of silver were seized from the combined sites in Mateshwari Enclave and Baghinada Chhimpo ka Mohalla in Gangashahar. Based on current market rates, 1 kg of gold is valued at roughly Rs.1.5 crore and 2 kg of silver at around Rs.5.18 lakh. Preliminary investigations also indicate that the accused owns three luxury residential houses in Bikaner city, one high-end house in Poonrasar village, and approximately 17 hectares of agricultural land. The raids are being conducted under the oversight of Additional Director General of Police, ACB, Smita Srivastava. ACB officials said that detailed investigation, including forensic examination of financial records, property documents and valuation of assets, is ongoing.
