Jaipur, Jan. 3 -- Four people, including three police personnel and a cafe operator in Mansarovar, have been arrested on charges of extortion, police said. The arrests followed an investigation into a complaint lodged at the Mansarovar police station on December 31. The accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar Gurjar (36), and constables Babulal Meena (40), Kailash Chand (37), and Anil Kumar Ragera (38). Jaipur South deputy commissioner of police Rajarshi Raj said the complainant alleged that he and his friend Yogesh Patel were driving near Bharat Mata Circle when police personnel stopped them. The policemen allegedly threatened the complainant, accused him of illegal activities, and warned that they would have him dismissed from his job. Fearing consequences, the complainant claimed, the policemen demanded money from him. According to the complaint, Yogesh knew the complainant had cash kept aside for purchasing a plot. Investigations later revealed that Yogesh was allegedly acting in collusion with the accused. The complainant said that after being intimidated, Yoges went to a hostel to collect the money from his younger brother, Sunil. Yogesh allegedly retrieved the cash and came to Swarn Garden, where the complainant was held inside a white vehicle by the policemen. The complaint stated that once Yogesh arrived, two policemen left with him in his vehicle and took him to an undisclosed location. About 20 minutes later, they returned and told the complainant his friend had not paid them. The complainant was then driven around Swarn Path, dropped near a metro station, and made to board an auto-rickshaw. Later, the policemen allegedly informed him that they had received the money from his friend. A case was registered under Sections 308(2) and 61(2) of the BNS. During the probe, police found a financial dispute between the complainant and Yogesh. Since Yogesh was staying with the complainant, he knew the latter had received a sum of money and kept it in his PG hostel.
