Barmer/Pali, Feb. 13 -- A 35-year-old man from Pali district has filed a case against 11 members of a caste panchayat for declaring him a thief and socially boycotting him, even though the police have not proved the allegation. The incident took place in Rani Kalan village. On August 26, 2024, Paburam from Punadia village accused Bhuraram, son of Laxmanram, of stealing jewellery and lodged a police complaint. The police investigation has not reached any conclusion. On July 20, 2025, Paburam called a caste panchayat where they declared Bhuraram and his wife Bhanwari guilty and ordered a social boycott against them. Bhuraram approached the court and filed a case against the 11 panchayat members. He has demanded action against them for holding an illegal trial, making false accusations, and socially ostracizing his family.
