Jaipur, Feb. 18 -- Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday launched the Bharat-VISTAAR (Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources) app in Jaipur, while launching a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling him a "part-time leader" and "full-time dramebaaz." "The entire country is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's family. But some people never stop criticising him. There is a leader who has become a part-time politician and full-time dramebaaz. He has never visited agricultural fields nor understands farming trade practices, yet continues to criticise PM Modi," Chouhan said. Targeting the Congress-led UPA government, Chouhan questioned why it did not implement the Swaminathan Committee report. "It was Modi who revised the MSP formula in line with its recommendations. Why did they export sugar despite record production in 2010? Who caused losses to farmers?" he said. He also accused the former Congress government of weakening self-reliance in edible oil production. Referring to the recent US-India trade engagement, Chouhan said limited imports were necessary to bridge demand gaps. "India leads in rice and wheat but not in pulses or apples. There is no harm in importing in limited quantities," he said. In response, Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said: "It was BJP which promised of bringing doubling farmer income, a law for MSP but they never fulfilled it. BJP is cheating farmers interest in the name of trade deal with America." Chouhan launched the AI-powered multilingual app at the State Institute of Agriculture Management in Durgapura. The app will provide farmers information on crop planning, pest management, weather, markets, and government schemes....
