Woman cop suspended for biased probe, threatening complainant
Haldwani, Jan. 15 -- A woman sub-inspector posted at Lalkuan police station was suspended for allegedly threatening a complainant and conducting a biased investigation to protect the accused, police officers said on Wednesday. The suspended officer, Anju Negi, faced this action on Tuesday evening following a complaint submitted by the victim last year to SSP Dr Manjunath TC. The victim alleged harassment and misconduct by the investigating officer.
According to police records, a woman had lodged a complaint against her husband last year, alleging that he had concealed his earlier marriage and the existence of two children, aged 13 and 11, from that marriage.
Police entrusted the investigation to SI Negi. The complainant, however, alleged that instead of conducting a fair and impartial probe, the officer repeatedly pressured her and attempted to shield the accused. She also claimed that crucial facts, including details of the accused's children from his previous marriage, were deliberately omitted....
