Dehradun, Jan. 26 -- Uttarakhand police's Special Task Force (STF) has booked a couple - both history-sheeters facing charges in 15 criminal cases - for allegedly using their minor son to supply heroin worth Rs.33 lakh in Udham Singh Nagar, officers said. The "juvenile in conflict with the law" was apprehended on Saturday, and appropriate legal proceedings under the Juvenile Justice Act have been initiated, police added. The minor was intercepted on Saturday in Udham Singh Nagar district with 112.3 gm of heroin, estimated at Rs.33 lakh in the international market, along with a TVS scooty provided by his parents for the delivery. According to police, the boy was being used by his parents as a courier to evade legal action. STF senior superintendent of police Navneet Singh Bhullar said the recovery was made during a joint operation by the STF's anti-narcotics task force unit of the Kumaon division and the Udham Singh Nagar police. "We recovered 112.3 grams of heroin from the juvenile in conflict with the law. The seized contraband is valued approximately Rs.33 lakh," Bhullar said. The minor told police that the heroin was handed to him by his father Shakir Ali and mother Shain, both residents of Ward number 1, Kartarpur, under Gadarpur police station limits. The parents instructed him to deliver the consignment to a person waiting near a bridge in Gadarpur, police said. "The acts of the parents amount to offences under Sections 8/21/60 of the NDPS Act, read with Section 95 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which criminalises the use of a child below 18 years to commit any illegal act," Bhullar said. Inspector Pawan Swaroop of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Kumaon, said the accused couple, with at least 15 criminal cases against them, had recently changed their modus operandi and had been using minors for some time, believing police would not take strict action against them. "This is the first time that Section 95 of the BNS has been invoked in such a case," Swaroop said, adding that the Udham Singh Nagar police are making efforts to arrest the couple....
