Gurugram, Feb. 3 -- The 39th Surajkund International Atmanirbhar Craft Festival 2026, which commenced on January 31, drew nearly 30,000 visitors on Sunday, officials said. The fair features 1,230 stalls, including 50 from foreign countries, showcasing handicrafts, handlooms, folk art, and cuisines from across India, and other countries. The festival has Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya as theme states and Egypt as the partner nation. The UP pavilion showcases replicas of the Ayodhya and Kashi gates, Banarasi sarees, and wood carvings. The Meghalaya stall highlights cane and bamboo handicrafts and traditional jewellery. Harvinder Yadav, nodal officer of Surajkund Mela Authority, said, "The drainage system has been improved and roads have been widened, with the minimum width now 10 feet." He added that around 40 free ferry services transport visitors from parking areas. Entry tickets range between Rs.120 and Rs.150 on weekdays and Rs.150 to Rs.200 on weekends. Children below five years enter free. The fair includes performances by Kailash Kher and Gurdas Maan, and a stand-up comedy session by Amit Tandon. Faridabad deputy commissioner Ayush Sinha reviewed parking, traffic, and safety preparation. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has allocated 30 stalls. Artisan Manoj Kumar from Himachal said, "I have been setting up a stall for 10 years and it gives me an opportunity to reach customers from across the world." He added, "The fair promotes self-reliance of rural craftspeople." The festival continues until February 15....
