Probe ordered into clip of kids cleaning school
Haridwar, Feb. 20 -- The state education department has ordered a probe into allegations that students of a government primary school in Haridwar district were made to clean and sweep the school premises during class hours, officials said on Thursday.
The action follows the circulation of a video clip on social media platforms in which the person recording the footage claimed that students of Government Primary School-34 near Upper Road were directed by teachers to clean the school building, walls and surrounding surfaces during school hours.
As the video went viral, the education department took suo motu cognisance of the matter. Officials said the clip is believed to be around 10 days old.
District education officer (basic) Amit Kumar Chand said directions have been issued to identify the school concerned and seek an explanation from the principal and teachers.
A teacher from the school, on condition of anonymity, said a cleanliness drive had been conducted across the city a few days ago, and a similar activity was carried out on the school premises with voluntary participation from both teachers and students.htc...
