Man held after sec 37 jewellery store robbery, two on the run
Gurugram, Feb. 16 -- A 22-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for his alleged involvement in a robbery at a jewellery store in Khandsa, Sector 37, where three armed suspects looted five kilograms of silver and Rs.35,000 in cash, police said. The accused was caught while attempting to flee, but two others remain at large.
The incident occurred around 2.30 pm when three armed suspects broke into the store and stole the valuables "through force and criminal intimidation," according to officials. A senior official at Sector 37 police station stated that the suspects were carrying an unlicensed pistol and an iron rod.
"The owner of the jewelry store was threatened and made to open the cupboard containing the valuables at gunpoint. They took 5 kg of silver and some cash from the store before closing the shutter and began running away, however, one of the suspects was caught from behind while he was attempting to flee from the spot," the official said.
The suspect was identified as Vikas, a resident of Khandsa in Sector 37. "While the remaining two suspects remain at large. Our teams have launched a manhunt to apprehend the other accused. Through CCTV footage and further investigations, we are trying to ascertain their identities," the official added.
Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of the Gurugram police, confirmed that an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the BNS. "When placed under police interrogation, he revealed his plan, along with his other accomplices," Turan said. Police recovered one unauthorised pistol from the arrested accused.
