Dehradun, Feb. 1 -- Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee has developed the country's first artificial intelligence framework that enables AI models to generate detailed, high-fidelity fashion outfit sketches directly from textual descriptions, marking a major breakthrough at the intersection of artificial intelligence, design and sustainable fashion, IIT Roorkee said on Friday. The innovation is based on two key developments-the FLORA dataset and the NeRA (Nonlinear Expressive Representation Adapter)- presented in a research study titled "Dressing the Imagination: A Dataset for AI-Powered Translation of Text into Fashion Outfits and a Novel NeRA Adapter for Enhanced Feature Adaptation." The framework allows AI systems to understand professional fashion language and translate complex textual descriptions into precise visual fashion sketches. "With FLORA, AI can understand not just simple terms like a 'blue dress', but highly specific descriptions such as 'a cobalt blue evening gown with a soft draped cowl neckline and ruched bodice'," researchers said. Prof Sparsh Mittal of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering said the research bridges creativity and technology.htc...
