Culvert eyed at Narsinghpur to ease NH-48 waterlogging
Gurugram, April 22 -- The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has proposed constructing a culvert on NH-48 at Narsinghpur to address recurring waterlogging during monsoon, officials said on Tuesday.
CEO PC Meena took up the issue with NHAI during stormwater drain inspections on Monday. Meena inspected the under-construction stormwater channel from Narsinghpur service lane to the Badshahpur drain.
"CEO GMDA further engaged in on-site discussions with the Chairman, NHAI, to facilitate construction of a culvert on NH-48 for better drainage management," a spokesperson said.
A senior GMDA official said, "The construction of a culvert.will reduce waterlogging considerably, as stormwater from the eastern side of the highway will flow towards the Najafgarh drain. If the culvert is not built, flow of water will remain slow and flooding will persist."
NHAI had earlier rejected the proposal, citing traffic and safety concerns. Meena also reviewed works at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Rajiv Chowk and CPR, directing desilting before monsoon and drain completion by May 15 and flagging illegal sewer discharge near Dhankot, ordering its diversion.abhishek behl...
