Civil Lines - the only remnant of British urban planning in Gurugram
India, Dec. 9 -- While the history of the Gurugram region has been recorded over centuries under various phases, such as the Vedic age, Ashoka's Mauryan period, Harsha, Rajputs, Sultanate, Mughals and later, the city itself retains only the British planning area, i.e. the Civil Lines, as its earliest historical settlement area. Any trace of a historic urban settlement prior to this is only visible in the nearby Farruknagar, but none in the present Gurugram city....
