Dehradun, Feb. 28 -- The state high court has rejected the bail application of 72-year-old contractor Usman Khan, who is accused of raping a minor in Nainital district, and directed the state government to ensure that the trial in the case is completed within three months. A bench headed by justice Alok Mahra had reserved its verdict on the bail plea on February 24 after hearing arguments from both sides. The order rejecting the plea was delivered on Friday. During the hearing, the accused claimed that he was innocent and alleged that the case against him was based on false accusations. The defence argued that the allegations were part of a conspiracy to frame him and pointed to what it described as major contradictions between the statements of the victim and her family members....
