2 men killed by Speeding trucks in separate road accidents
Gurugram, April 4 -- Two people were killed in separate accidents in the past week on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway and Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), police said on Friday.
Police identified the deceased as Salman Hussain, 37, a native of Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh and Sumit Kumar, 26, of Shikohpur, Sector 78.
According to police, on Thursday night, Hussain was riding a scooter when a speeding truck hit him from behind near Bilaspur Chowk. The driver of the truck fled the spot with his truck and has not been arrested yet.
Hussain was critically injured and was rushed to a hospital by commuters but was declared dead by doctors, police said.
Meanwhile, in the second incident, at around 11am on Monday, a speeding truck hit Kumar who was riding his motorcycle to reach home, police said.
Commuters alerted the police control room following which an ambulance took him to SGT hospital where he died in the course of treatment on Wednesday night, police said.
Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said that two separate FIRs have been registered under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita at Bilaspur and Kherki Daula police stations respectively, in both the cases. "Drivers of both the vehicles were on the run and will be arrested soon. The vehicle owners have been served notices to provide the details of the drivers," he added....
