Tera Ghata singer out with another chartbuster single
India, Feb. 18 -- Singer Gajendra Verma, who went viral with his track Tera Ghata (2018), is again topping charts. This time with his latest Mud Ke Tu Aa raking up around 3 million views on YouTube within a fortnight of the release.
However, the 35-year-old says virality and sustainability are not synonymous and surviving as an independent artiste takes more than just talent. "Music is art, but a career in music is business. You need patience, ownership, and thick skin," he says.
And even after going viral, financial sustainability remains elusive. "The struggle is real," Verma says, adding, "Streaming gives visibility. But, sustainability comes from how you build around it. Live shows, rights, long-term ownership are the real deal."
While the listeners have lapped up his singles online, he loves meeting people in real life during concerts. He adds,"I feel a real connection with the audience during the live shows... when the crowd sings louder than you, that's real success and gives a high."...
