Rani issues notice seeking Priya S Kapur's removal as trustee
India, March 26 -- In a fresh twist in late industrialist Sunjay Kapur's Rs.30,000 crore estate row, his widow Priya S Kapur has issued a counter notice seeking the removal of her mother-in-law Rani Kapur from the RK Family Trust. This comes days after Rani Kapur issued a notice to remove Priya from the RK family trust.
The trust, set up in 2017 for Sunjay Kapur as the sole beneficiary, passed on to his children including Azarias Suri Kapur (his son with Priya), Samaira Kapur, and Kiaan Kapur (whom he shared with actor Karisma Kapoor), following his death in June 2025.
The notice flags concerns over Rani's actions post the beneficiary's death, citing a January cease-and-desist, and notes she has moved the Delhi High Court challenging the trust's validity and seeking relief regarding its assets.
Priya's notice cites actions by Rani as being against the trust deed and the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, invoking clause 8.11, to remove her as trustee.
The notice says that from March 25, Rani will have no authority to act on behalf of the trust or deal with its assets, documents, or affairs. Also, any actions taken in its name will be invalid, with legal action for non-compliance.HTC...
