Rajshri Deshpande on normalising the 'C word'
India, April 7 -- Actor Rajshri Deshpande shocked fans with her diagnosis of breast cancer last month, and has been documenting her health journey on Instagram ever since. On World Health Day today, she says this is to normalise the 'C word'.
The 43-year-old, known for web series such as Sacred Games and Trial By Fire, explains, "If you have cancer, it doesn't mean your life has ended. It has just begun, actually. We have to look at it in a very empathetic manner."
Her priority is spreading awareness, and Rajshri stresses the urgent need to improve access, especially in remote areas. "There are so many taboos. I've been promoting healthcare awareness in villages for the past 10-12 years now. So, I know how in villages and tier three cities, it is difficult to get the right kind of advice," she says, adding, "Hospitals should not be a space where people are scared to go. We need not just conversation, but streamlined action."
Amid her own treatment, the actor is focusing on positivity: "The one mantra is to be happy. The positive mindset is necessary not just for the journey, but for life."...
