India, Feb. 19 -- Ahandwritten childhood letter by Queen Elizabeth II has come to light and will be auctioned at Hansons Auctioneers in Kent, UK on February 27, offering a rare glimpse into her early years. Written at the age of 10 to Beatrice Stillman, head housemaid at Royal Lodge in Windsor, the one-page note features sweet doodles of dogs, horses, and children. It was found two years ago after being kept in a suitcase under a bed for years. Penned during a family holiday in Cornwall, young Elizabeth wrote about picking wild primroses, strolling down to the beach from the garden, and asking after the birds and goldfish back home, signing off simply as "Elizabeth." The letter is expected to fetch more than £4,000 (around Rs.5 lakh). The archive also includes a short note from Princess Margaret and other historical documents linked to the royal household such as Ration Book and photographs.HTC...
