Out of colour, Bollywood?
India, March 4 -- From Rang Barse to Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, Holi songs once came built into Bollywood storytelling.
But how many of such Holi anthems can you recall from recent years, barring a few such as Panwadi (Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari, 2025).
Listeners and composers both feel we need more Holi anthems. "Holi songs have been few and far between," agrees music composer Pritam behind hits like Balam Pichkari. So what's stopping the makers?
Many say stories and budgets have changed.
Trade expert Atul Mohan explains, "These days producers know that the revenue coming out a film's music album is not as big as it used to be 20 years ago. Another reason, makers are making cinema of convenience, they are not wiling to take risks or create something which is big on emotion."...
