Madhur Bhandarkar: Saddened to see what's happening in Mexico
India, Feb. 27 -- Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, who shares a deep connect with the Mexican city Puerto Vallarta, is devastated about the growing civil unrest in the country and hopes that normalcy returns soon.
This comes after the recent killing of El Mencho, leader of Mexican criminal syndicate CJNG, by the Mexican Army, which led to violent clashes across 20 states. Social media has been flooded with visuals of torched vehicles, roadblocks and shutdown markets, schools and universities.
"My friends have been sending me clips of the unrest; I feel deeply saddened and disappointed to see that," Madhur tells us, adding, "I went there for a getaway just six months ago."
The 57-year-old shares his instant connect with the city: "Usually, there would be so much traffic, and I would joke, 'Humare India jaisa hi lagta hai!' The folks are so friendly and generous. It's a vibrant city with beautiful architecture and beaches... You come across bands playing on the roads, and even if you take a walk on the beach at 3am, you'll find it buzzing with tourists. I hope that the city gets back to normalcy and stays the same. It deserves to be kept that way."...
