India, Feb. 21 -- A ctor and designer Lekha Washington has responded to online trolling after facing backlash over her interfaith relationship with actor Imran Khan. The criticism followed the couple's appearance at the premiere of Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, where social media users questioned their relationship and used the term 'love jihad'. Addressing the backlash in an interview with Moneycontrol, Lekha said videos of her were being misused to spread hate. "Videos of me being used to fuel hate and division are the exact opposite of what I stand for. It's important to deal with this with humour. quite literally, make light of the ridiculousness of it all," she said. Earlier, in an Instagram video, Lekha had sarcastically addressed the trolling, pointing to the multicultural backgrounds of both families. She also said what troubles her more than trolling is being defined primarily through her relationship rather than her own independent career. Imran and Lekha have reportedly been dating since 2020 and are said to have leased a sea-facing Bandra apartment from filmmaker Karan Johar for Rs.9 lakh per month. HTC...
