India, March 31 -- F ormer cricketer and Rajya Sabha member Harbhajan Singh has come under fire over his commentary during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), sparking a heated exchange with fans on social media platform X. The controversy began after a cricket meme account criticised Harbhajan, along with former cricketers-turned-commentators Virender Sehwag and Navjot Singh Sidhu, for their commentary during the match on Saturday between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad. They claimed their analysis leaned more towards rhetoric and entertainment than technical insight. While some users echoed the criticism, others defended the trio, arguing that their style brings personality and energy to the broadcast. The debate soon snowballed into a wider online discussion, dividing fans over what they expect from modern cricket commentary. The account also drew a comparison with former West Indies cricketer-turned-commentator Ian Bishop (inset above), suggesting he appeared "more Indian" than Harbhajan, Sehwag and Sidhu due to his deeper knowledge of Indian domestic cricket. The remark did not go down well with Harbhajan, who responded sharply. "The elephant walks through the market. Dogs bark a thousand times. Get out of here, Tomy. Not Homie," the 45-year-old wrote in Hindi. His response triggered further reactions online, with some users backing him for hitting back at trolls, while others criticised his tone. The exchange escalated when the same account took another dig, claiming that former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin's entry into commentary could eventually push Harbhajan out (inset above), much like he had replaced him in India's Test side during their playing days. Harbhajan responded again strongly, writing, "Dogs can't digest ghee, and a loser like you can't stomach the reply. Get lost, Tommy." HTC...
