India, Feb. 1 -- Once confined to wellness powders and teas, mushrooms are quietly reshaping how skincare approaches skin health. From calming inflammation to boosting hydration, fungi-based ingredients are emerging as gentle, results-driven alternatives to harsher actives.
The conversation gained momentum after skincare educator Jushya Bhatia Sarin said, "Reishi mushroom isn't just for health benefits. It's also a skincare super ingredient." With over 1.2 million views, the response shows how interested people are in ingredient-led skincare that delivers results without irritation. But unlike flash-in-the-pan trends, dermatologists say mushrooms are backed by research.
According to dermatologist Dr Bhawuk Dhir, mushroom extracts mimic components naturally found in the skin. "They calm inflammation, improve hydration and strengthen the skin barrier without triggering irritation," he says, making them suitable even for sensitive or compromised skin....
