India, Jan. 29 -- Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, was on an official visit to India. On Tuesday, she opted for a turmeric-hued bandhgala paired with an accented scarf as she visited the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Her ensemble, yet again, was a direct nod to the excellence of Indian craftsmanship. Both the coat and the scarf were crafted using Bandhini, an ancient tie-and-dye technique traditionally practiced in the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. The accompanying silk scarf, with subtle pink piping, adds a subtle accent. The ensemble was the work of FDCI designers Abraham & Thakore. On January 26, Ursula made a striking appearance beside Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 77th Republic Day parade, where she was the Chief Guest, wearing a designer Rajesh Pratap Singh bandhgala. The following day, ahead of crucial India-EU summit at the Hyderabad House, Delhi, she opted for a designer Anamika Khanna ensemble - a euro-blue silk satin silhouette with delicate resham embroidery and lace detailing, paired with tailored white pants.
