Delhi, truly dilwalon ki hai!
India, Jan. 12 -- A small act of compassion from a Delhi auto driver is winning hearts online. In a Reddit post titled Kind of Crazy Wholesome Story (see right), a youngster recounted being stranded in Lajpat Nagar with just 4% battery and no cash while returning home. He took an auto on metre plus Rs.20, planning to pay digitally, only for his phone to die just as he tried to scan the driver's QR code.
In a panicking voice, the user told him in Hindi: "My phone has died, wait, I'll get cash from home," expecting the driver to get annoyed or assume that he is trying to scam. Opposed to the assumption, the driver smiled and said, "It's okay. Go home, it's cold." When he insisted on running home to get the money, the driver turned on his auto and left saying: "Pay me the next time we meet, or help someone else. Don't worry."
The man stood there for two minutes feeling both guilty and heartened. He shared: "In a city where we fight for Rs.10 change, this man let go of Rs.150 just because he saw a kid in panic. Delhi, you have your flaws, but your people, kabhi kabhi dil jeet lete hai yaar."
Reddit users were quick to react. One commented, "Some people don't have much, yet give the most. Respect to the uncle." Another wrote, "Made me smile after a hectic day, Delhi is truly all heart."
