India, April 24 -- As her OTT debut series clocks one year this May, actor Bhumi Satish Pednekkar reflects on a phase that has seen her deliver two distinct performances on the web, from the glossy world of The Royals to the gritty Daldal. The 39-year-oldbelieves she has consciously stayed away from being stereotyped throughout her career. "If I have done a Daldal, I did a Saand Ki Aankh (2019) too. If I did Pati, Patni Aur Woh (2019), I also did Sonchiriya (2019).I have never really done work because I have had tags on me. I wanted more out of life like any other artiste," she says. The positive response to her recent work has been both grounding and gratifying. "I am ecstatic, but at the same time I'm full of gratitude. I'm trying to stay calm through the good and the bad," she shares, adding that she is now gearing up for her next film with actor Imran Khan. While her career spans theatrical hits including Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) and Bala (2019) alongside her OTT work, she is also taking stock of her journey. "I am very appreciative of the credibility that I have earned over the years. I don't want anyone to misunderstand it," she says, before adding, "But credibility alone does not get you all the big brands or the big cheques." Questioning industry disparities, she adds, "Why is it that somebody who has maybe not done as much work as I have, and does not have the kind of trajectory that I have, is making more money than me. and getting to work with directors I want to collaborate with? Even when they haven't had the opportunity to prove their mettle?" Reflecting on this, she admits,"I have a lot of these thoughts... I'm just being candid and real because I'm done being otherwise."...
