India, Feb. 15 -- YouTuber and actor Bhuvan Bam, last month, joined the growing list of Indian celebs seeking legal protection for their personality rights. The 32-year-old filed a civil suit in the Delhi High Court to prevent the unauthorised commercial use of his name, voice, image, and likeness. However, the court ordered the removal of his images, used without consent, but declined interim protection on broader personality rights. Despite that, he remains hopeful, calling it a matter of time. "It's a process. I am told that things will be positive in the next few hearings," says the actor, who will be next seen in Dhindora Season 2. Further highlighting the lack of clear AI laws in India, he believes, it leaves creators and ordinary people open to misuse. Recalling a personal incident, he notes, "A house was being sold in Nala Sopara, Maharashtra, in my name. Someone DMed me because he thought that I am selling it. Imagine how it can be misused." As deepfakes become more common, Bhuvan stresses that until safeguards are introduced, awareness is the only defence. "Till regulations come in, we have to be aware," he says.
