Badshah apologises over Tateeree row; takes song down
India, March 9 -- Rapper Badshah has apologised after his Haryanvi track Tateeree, which released on March 1, was accused of having objectionable lyrics that sexualised minors. On Saturday, the 40-year-old shared that the song has been taken down from all platforms.
He posted an apology Reel saying, "Sabse pehle main ye kehna chahta hoon ki main khud Haryana se hoon. Meri boli, khan-paan, rehen-sehen, meri pehchaan Haryana se hain. Bahut hi proud Haryanvi hoon. Mera kabhi bhi koi aisa iraada nahi tha ki main Haryana ke kisi bachche ya mahila ke baare mein aisi behudi baat karoon."
He added that songs from the hip-hop genre are often aimed at competitors, not audiences. "Ye kabhi bhi kisi aurat ya bachche ke liye nahin tha. Aur na main kabhi aisi karunga," he said.
Badshah went on to apologise, saying his efforts are aimed at uplifting the culture of the state: "Maine humesha koshish ki hain ki main Haryana ke culture ko aur uske boli ko jitni uunchai pe le ja sakta hoon, jaun. Lekin agar (gaane ke) uss hisse se kisi ko bhi hesh pahunchi hai toh main tahey dil se aap sab se kshama maangta hoon. Main ummeed karta hoon ki aap mujhe Haryana ka beta samajh kar maaf karenge." htc...
