India, Feb. 19 -- S inger AR Ameen has recently followed in the footsteps of his father, AR Rahman, into composing, with their new collaboration, Bheegi Bhaagi. "It was a very nice feeling to have him with me on the song. We have a lot of respect for each other professionally," the 23-year-old tells us. Entering a field where his father has built a formidable legacy with two Oscars, two Grammys, and a Golden Globe comes with its own pressures, but Ameen remains unfazed. "It comes with the territory; there is hate and there is love. But I'm trying to pave my own path. I'm not trying to be like anyone, and I hope my originality stays. What I have learnt from my father's journey is don't judge a book by its cover," he shares. Looking ahead, the singer-composer hopes to build a platform that shines a light on behind-the-scenes talent. "We should respect every person, from the lightman to the person serving us food, which is a very important role in itself," he says, adding, "I want to convey the message of respect for everyone and create a platform where I can bring up more people and give them the recognition they deserve. That's the plan."...
