India, Jan. 21 -- A ctor Akshay Kumar, 58, and his wife, author Twinkle Khanna, 51, were part of a multi-vehicle road accident on Monday night in Mumbai's Juhu area. While the actor's convoy vehicle was hit, the couple, who were travelling in a separate car ahead, escaped unhurt, sources said. The incident occurred around 9pm when a speeding Mercedes rammed into an auto rickshaw, pushing it into an Innova that was part of Akshay's convoy. The actor's SUV, in which Akshay and Twinkle were travelling, suffered only a minor impact. Sources confirmed that all those involved in the accident, including the auto rickshaw driver and a passenger, are safe. Eyewitnesses said Akshay stepped out of his vehicle immediately after the collision and helped rescue the auto driver and passenger, who were briefly trapped. Residents and bystanders described moments of panic at the scene, with the auto appearing severely damaged. The couple had returned to Mumbai earlier that evening from a trip abroad to mark their 25th wedding anniversary and were on their way home from the airport when the accident occurred.
