Jamshedpur, Feb. 19 -- Four people have been arrested for allegedly burning a 32-year-old woman and her two-month-old newborn baby to death, after branding her as "witch" in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, police said on Wednesday, adding the husband of the deceased woman has suffered severe burn injuries. According to police, the incident occurred late on Tuesday when 40-year-old Kolhan Sinku, his 32-year-old second wife Jyoti Sinku, their two-year-old son and two-month-old baby were sleeping in a room of their house in Kalaiya (Kudasai) village under the Kumardungi police station limits. "Four people have been arrested. Evidences are being collected and further investigation is ongoing to identify other culprits involved," West Singhbhum SP Amit Renu said. A relative of the husband, who lived in the same village, died on Tuesday following a prolonged illness, and they blamed his wife for it, police said. "A case has been registered under BNS Sections 103(1), 238, 61(2) and section 3 and 4 of the Witch Hunting Prevention Act against five named and three unnamed accused. Four named accused Rasika alias Cheche Birua (29), Jena Birua (19), Sona Birua (36) and Delka Sinku (20) have been arrested," police officials said. htc...
