Woman, boyfriend among 4 held for killing husband during walk
Jaipur, Feb. 6 -- A 23-year-old woman and her boyfriend were among four people arrested for orchestrating the murder of her 27-year-old husband, just three months after their marriage, in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar, police said on Thursday, adding that the accused tried to pass it off as a hit-and-run case. According to police, main accused Anjali Kumar married Ashish Kumar in October last year under pressure from her family who opposed her seven-year relationship with Sanjay (25).
"Prima facie, the two got married in October last year but the accused woman, Anjali Kumar, had a relationship with her boyfriend Sanjay (25) for the last seven years. Anjanli's family was aware of their relationship but still got her married to the victim Ashish Kumar (27). Anjali was not happy with the marriage and she plotted the entire murder," said Sri Ganganagar superintendent of police Amrita Douhan. According to police, the incident took place on the night of January 30 when Ashish Kumar (27), a resident of 1 KLM village in Sri Ganganagar, went for his daily walk with his wife after dinner.
"On Wednesday, Anjali had told police that she and Ashish went for an evening walk when an overspeeding bike mowed him down. She claimed that assailants also snatched her gold earrings before fleeing the spot," Douhan said. "However, suspicions arose after the autopsy report showed no signs of a hit-and-run. Rather, there was multiple injury marks caused by some brutal assault. We also did not find any other clue regarding the assailants." Anjali finally confessed to the murder during an interrogation on Wednesday. Police said that Anjali and Sanjay are residents of Churu's Sadushahar and met during their graduation at a college....
