Wanted criminal held after encounter in Jalandhar
Jalandhar, Jan. 24 -- The police arrested a wanted criminal involved in a firing incident in December, following an encounter on Friday.
SSP Harvinder Singh Virk said during the exchange of fire, the accused, identified as Lovepreet Singh of Bholath in Kapurthala district, sustained a bullet injury in his right arm. A 30-bore pistol and three live cartridges were recovered from his possession. On December 19 last year, a scuffle broke out between two student groups of a private college in Bidhipur. Amid the melee, Lovepreet, along with his accomplices Lakhwinder and Nachattar Singh, opened fire at the members of the opposite group. Two youths, Sourav and Gopi, both in their 20s, had suffered bullet injuries in the attack.
Police had arrested Lakhwinder on the same day of the incident. htc...
