UT to celebrate 50 years of Rock Garden on Jan 24
CHANDIGARH, Jan. 23 -- The UT administration will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Rock Garden on Saturday, January 24, 2026, marking five decades of the iconic landmark that has become synonymous with Chandigarh's cultural identity.
A series of cultural and public-oriented activities will be organised throughout the day at the Rock Garden, Sector 1. Recognised globally as a major tourist attraction, the Rock Garden was created by Nek Chand, whose visionary work transformed industrial and household waste into an extraordinary artistic landscape.
The golden jubilee celebrations will begin with the lighting of diyas and the offering of floral tributes at the wax statue of Late Nek Chand.
The ceremony will be led by the chief guest, Mandip Singh Brar, home secretary-cum-chairman, Rock Garden Society, Chandigarh, in the presence of the chief engineer, Chandigarh administration, the superintending engineer-cum-member secretary, Rock Garden Society, committee members and other dignitaries.
