Two arrested after encounter in Ambala
Karnal, May 10 -- Nearly a week after a man was allegedly killed in firing by cattle smugglers, the CIA-1 unit of Ambala police nabbed two accused after a brief exchange of fire in the Mullana area on Friday evening.
The accused Monish and Riyan are residents of Uttar Pradesh. A police spokesperson said that Riyan has suffered a bullet injury during the exchange of fire.
"They both were involved in a recent cattle smuggling incident in which 25-year-old Gurpreet Singh, alias Happy, was killed after suffering a bullet injury when he was returning after completing his night shift at a local cinema on May 1," said CIA-1 incharge inspector Harjinder Singh.
"We were following the duo after a tip-off when the accused opened fire and their two-wheeler rammed into a tree, due to which they slipped and fell down. While Monish has suffered injuries due to the accident, Riyan received bullet injury and both were undergoing treatment at Ambala City civil hospital," he added....
