three dead, two injured as vehicle plunges into gorge in Shimla
Dharamshala, March 1 -- Three people were killed and two others sustained serious injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded into a 200-meter-deep gorge in the Rampur area of Shimla district, police said on Saturday.
The accident occurred late on Friday evening on the Bahlidhar-Chiksa link road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it fell down about 200-250 meters near Shandal.
Three persons died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Kapil Dev, a resident of Chiksa village in Rampur; Pushpa Devi and Urmila Devi, 40, both from Majhali village in Rampur.
Upon receiving the information, a police team reached the spot.
The injured and deceased were taken to Mahatma Gandhi Medical Service Complex, Khaneri, in Rampur.
"The accident allegedly occurred due to the negligence of the driver," the police said. A case has been registered at Rampur police station and investigation into the incident is underway....
