tehsildar HELD for aiding fraudulent 17-acre land deal in p'kula
Panchkula, Feb. 1 -- The Panchkula unit of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Haryana, has arrested a tehsildar of Raipur Rani in connection with an alleged fraudulent land transaction, involving approximately 17 acres.
The accused has been identified as Vikram Singla.
According to the ACB, the land, located in Shahpur village of Raipur Rani, was under legal attachment, prohibiting its sale. Despite this, the accused allegedly facilitated its registration in the name of a resident of Hansi district's Badala village, for a transaction reportedly worth several crores. The land originally belonged to a business group.
Following the arrest, Singla was produced before a Panchkula court on Saturday, which remanded him to police custody for three days to allow further investigation. The ACB stated that the remand period would be used to probe the wider conspiracy and examine the possible involvement of other officials in the alleged scam. The role of the original landowner and other beneficiaries is also being verified.
Singla has previously served in several tehsils across Ambala and Panchkula districts.htc...
