Teacher's Perspective on National Education Policy
Chandigarh, March 19 -- From a teacher's perspective, the New Education Policy (NEP) is a forward-looking and much-needed transformation in India's education system. A key strength of the policy is its focus on holistic development, moving beyond rote memorization. The emphasis on experiential learning, critical thinking, skill-based education, and flexibility in subject choices enables students to explore their interests and abilities more effectively. The introduction of early childhood education and the use of mother tongue in foundational years are also commendable steps toward strengthening basic learning. At the same time, the policy brings certain challenges. The shift in assessment patterns and multidisciplinary teaching may also increase teachers' responsibilities without proper training can lead to confusion. Overall, the NEP holds great promise, but its success will depend on careful execution, continuous teacher training, and uniform implementation across regions....
