Mohali, Feb. 24 -- The first annual sports day of St. John's School, Kharar was celebrated with immense zeal and enthusiasm on Sunday, February 22. The grand event witnessed active participation from students of all classes, along with overwhelming support from parents and staff members. The program commenced with a spectacular March Past by the students, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the torch, symbolizing the true spirit of sportsmanship and unity. The school anthem and the National Anthem were sung with pride, and the official inauguration of the event was marked by a colorful balloon release, filling the sky with joy and excitement. Students enthusiastically participated in various races and sports activities. The kindergarten students' fun races were a major highlight of the day and were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone present. The young participants displayed remarkable confidence and energy, winning the hearts of the audience. A mesmerising calisthenics exercise performance by the students added grace and discipline to the event. In addition, students from kindergarten to primary classes presented vibrant dance performances that left the parents delighted and applauded throughout. The chief guest for the occasion, MLA Lakhibr Singh Rai and the guest of honor Kharar DSP Karan Sandhu, graced the event and appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers. The school secretary Paras Bajaj, members of managing committee Randhir Sood, Gurwinder Singh were also present and praised the dedication and talent displayed by the children. The entire function was organised under the able guidance of management committee member Gurwinder Singh, and under the leadership of school principal Poonam Ahuja. The chief guest praised the efforts of both of them.Adding more excitement to the celebration, parents also participated in fun races and activities,strengthening the bond between the school and families. The school management ensured warm hospitality by serving high tea along with lunch to all the students, parents and guests. Certificates and medals were awarded to the winners, recognizing their hard work and achievements. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by the principal, who applauded the students for their spirited performances and appreciated the sincere efforts of theteachers and staff in making the event a grand success. Chitman Singh was declared as the best Athlete and St. Peter Hose won the overall trophy.
