Showbiz's budget 2026 wishlist
India, Jan. 31 -- With television remaining a dominant force in entertainment, industry insiders are awaiting the Union Budget for measures to boost the sector.
Actor Arjun Bijlani says, "TV continues to be one of the biggest sources of entertainment across the country, and increased investment in content creation, better infrastructure, and incentives for producers would go a long way. It would also be encouraging to see policies that support artistes, technicians, and daily-wage workers, who form the backbone of our industry."
JD Majethia, Chariman, TV and Web, Indian Film & Television Producers Council adds, "Right now, the industry is in a vulnerable state, and any support, including status and its associated benefits, could help strengthen it. Securing investments is very difficult without such backing. I also hope we get certain GST exemptions on food, makeup, vanity vans, and several other service products, which are vital for production, especially during outdoor shoots."...
