SC panel directs suspensionof govt school principal
Amritsar, Jan. 23 -- The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has directed the secretary, education department, to suspend Muradpura senior secondary school principal Rekha Mahajan in connection with the alleged use of casteist derogatory language against DPE teacher Jorinder Singh.
According to the commission, a two-member committee constituted by the education department had also heldthe principal guilty in the matter.
The commission has further sought a report during the personal appearance of the director, secondary education department, on January 29, in connection with the case.
Commission chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi said that the case has been heard on two occasions in the commission, and during the preliminary inquiry itself, the principal was found guilty.
"The departmental inquiry has now established that sheis a habitual offender. In view of this, the commission has recommended strict departmental action against her," he said.
Garhi added that hearings in the case will continue on the forthcoming dates, and the police department will also be directed to initiate legal proceedings under the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Act, 1989....
