Chandigarh, Feb. 6 -- Chandigarh MC commissioner Amit Kumar on Thursday fined a sanitation firm operating in the Manimajra area after its employee was caught dumping debris and construction & demolition (C&D) waste in the public area. During a surprise inspection near the bridge at Sukhna Choe, Sector 26, the commissioner spotted the employee dumping debris and construction & demolition waste by emptying gunny bags from a vehicle into the open area. The employee, identified as Vikas, was challaned for littering by the area chief sanitary inspector and health supervisor. The challan amounting to Rs.13,000 was issued in the name of the concerned firm, M/s Bhumika Pragati JV, which is engaged in sanitation works in Manimajra. Kumar directed the joint commissioner concerned to initiate proceedings for levying a substantial penalty against the firm.
