Salman made sure Vivek won't work in Bollywood again: Shailendra Singh
India, Jan. 31 -- Producer Shailendra Singh has revisited the events surrounding actor Vivek Oberoi's controversial 2003 press conference, in which he had accused actor Salman Khan of threatening him over his relationship with actor Aishwarya Rai.
Shailendra revealed that he was with Salman at his apartment when the press conference was underway. "(Salman) was very angry (about the allegations). He was like, 'What the hell?' Earlier, he would openly show his emotions. Now, he has much more control," Shailendra said in a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, adding that he advised Salman against reacting immediately.
"My only reaction to Vivek's press conference was to tell Salman that in life, we should act, not react. Whatever needs to be done can be done later," he said, adding, "I think he did that. He made sure Vivek doesn't work in Bollywood anymore. I don't know for sure, but that's how it looks," Singh said.
Following the public fallout, Vivek's career saw a downturn. In an interview 20 years later, Vivek told HT that he faced lobbying after the press conference: "(I had just) delivered an award-winning, commercially successful performance in Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), and after that, (I was) sitting at home for 14 months, not getting any work."htc...
