Revoke new mustard, wheat procurement rules or face stir, says Abhay
Rohtak, April 14 -- Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) national president Abhay Singh Chautala on Monday gave an ultimatum to the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP government to revoke new rules introduced for the procurement of mustard and wheat within two days, else his party will launch an agitation.
Chautala visited the Bhiwani grain market on Monday, arriving in a tractor-trailer without a registration plate while carrying wheat. By doing so, he defied the state government's new rule requiring farmers to provide vehicle registration numbers for produce transport. New procurement rules mandate that only farmers registered on the 'Meri Fasal-Mera Byora' portal are authorised to sell rabi crops. Entry to mandis is strictly time-bound via advance slot booking, and submission of vehicle registration details for transportation is mandatory. Reacting to Chautala's call to launch an agitation, if the new norms are not taken back, BJP state chief Mohan Lal Badoli said, "A farmer will have to wait for three minutes to take a gate pass and fulfil the new norms being introduced to bring transparency in the procurement process. htc...
