Chandigarh, Feb. 5 -- A vibrant celebration marked the 77th Republic Day at Carmel Convent School. The chief guest for the occasion was the School Manager Sister Isabel Fernandes. She was escorted to the dais by the resplendent school band. All the Sisters unfurled the national flag after which the audience stood at rapt attention to the patriotic rendition of the National Anthem by the school band. The rest of the programme continued in the auditorium, where the gathered audience was enlightened on the importance of the day for our nation and the unique strengths of our worthy Constitution. The school principal, Sister Shanta Fernandes, and the Chief Guest, Sister Isabel Fernandes, were presented with potted plants as a token of love and appreciation. Reverent prayers, mellifluous singing of patriotic songs by the school choir, energetic and 'josh-inspiring' dances depicting the valorous and colourful culture of our motherland, poetry recitation and an insightful quiz were the hallmarks of the programme. The school principal delivered a motivational speech encouraging the students to be good citizens worthy of the rights conferred upon them and to fulfil their duties to the community and nation diligently and sincerely. The auspicious occasion being apt for the investiture ceremony also, the school principal welcomed the new school cabinet led by School Pupil Leader Sirjanpreet Kaur and thanked the outgoing Cabinet for their dedicated service to the school....
