Recovering addicts to get skill training
Chandigarh, Jan. 13 -- Punjab health and family welfare minister Dr Balbir Singh on Monday chaired a meeting with deputy commissioners via videoconference to review the progress of ongoing padyatras (foot marches) being organised in villages under "Yudh Nasheyan Virudh" (anti-drug war) 2.0. He directed the DCs to collaborate with ITIs, Krishi Vikas Kendras, NGOs and industries to provide job-oriented skills training to individuals recovering from drug addiction.
Meanwhile, 69 drug smugglers were arrested during raids at 272 locations on the 317th day of the "Yudh Nashian Virudh" campaign, Punjab Police said. The raids resulted in the recovery of 3.3-kg heroin, 385 intoxicating tablets/capsules and Rs.1.10 lakh drug money. htc...
