Punjab logs Rs.11,782cr excise revenue, exceeds target, says Cheema
Chandigarh, April 8 -- Finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday said that the state excise and taxation department collected Rs.11,782 crore as revenue in 2025-26, exceeding the revised target of Rs.11,200 crore by Rs.582 crore. Cheema attributed this success to the government's trade-friendly policies.
In the past four years, revenue has witnessed an uptick from Rs.6,254.84 crore to Rs.11,782 crore, with a new target of Rs.12,800 crore set for the next fiscal. Cheema said that for the 2026-27 fiscal, the excise policy has been formulated with a projected license fee target of Rs.10,520 crore, as compared to Rs.9,877 crore in 2025-26.
