Chennai, Jan. 5 -- Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday launched a scathing attack against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) regime in Tamil Nadu, calling it the most corrupt in the country, and expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would form a government in the southern state as well as in West Bengal after the assembly polls due this year. "The people of Tamil Nadu are fed up with rampant corruption and the breach of promises by the DMK government," Shah said while addressing a mega rally at Pudukkottai to mark the culmination of a yatra undertaken by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s state president Nainar Nagenthran. He slammed the ruling party over alleged graft, and withour taking any names, said that leaders of the DMK have been named in cash-for-jobs scam, money laundering, and coal scam. "Can Tamil Nadu's progress happen with such an army of corrupt ministers. There is a 20% corruption cut money. The state economy is running on debts and liquor sales," he said. Shah alleged that the DMK regime's sole motive is to make chief minister MK Stalin's son Udhayanidhi the CM, but added that the dream to perpetuate dynasty rule would not come true and the time has come to put an end to family politics in Tamil Nadu. Exuding confidence of an NDA win in the upcoming assembly polls, Shah listed out the BJP-led alliance's victories since 2024, including a third consecutive victory in Haryana and the wins in Delhi and Bihar. The home minister said it was now the turn of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal to join the list. "The DMK government has failed on every front. If the most corrupt government is anywhere in India, it is in Tamil Nadu," Shah said, attacking Stalin, who is also the DMK chief. Shah alleged that the DMK has turned Tamil Nadu into a dumping ground of biomedical waste from neighbouring states. "They have insulted Hindus. In Tamil Nadu, an undeclared curfew was imposed during the Bhoomi Puja of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Their senior leader compared Sanatana Dharma to dengue and malaria," Shah said. "I want to tell Stalin ji that you have violated the sanctity of our Constitution by committing atrocities against the Hindu community." Shah also accused the DMK of spreading a false narrative that the NDA is again Tamil language. "Today, I want to tell the people of Tamil Nadu that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who initiated the process of allowing candidates to take civil services examinations in the Tamil language," he said....
