P'kula woman arrested for honey trap, extortion
Panchkula, April 29 -- The district police have arrested a woman yoga instructor for allegedly blackmailing and extorting money from a man by threatening to circulate his objectionable video.
According to the complaint filed by a Panchkula resident, he used to attend a yoga centre in Panchkula in 2024, which was being run by the accused woman and later stopped going to the centre.
Recently, the woman contacted him seeking financial help, and the victim transferred Rs.30,000 online on humanitarian grounds.
The complainant alleged that the woman later called him to meet on the pretext of returning the money and tried to act inappropriately.
During the meeting, she secretly recorded a video of him and then began blackmailing him, threatening to make the video viral and inform his family.
Under pressure, the victim paid Rs.2.71 lakh in multiple instalments.
The accused further demanded Rs.6 lakh, after which the victim approached the police.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the woman had allegedly trapped the victim in a honey trap and extorted money by threatening him with the video.
A case was registered at Sector 20 police station on April 25 under Section 308(2) (extortion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused was arrested from her residence in Punjab on April 27 with the help of women police personnel. Police recovered mobile phones, including an iPhone 17 and a OnePlus device, from her possession.
No other complaints have been received against her. The accused has been sent to judicial custody....
